During the 1980s, one cartoon series ruled the airwaves... TheTransformers. This paragon of consumerism was created with a dual purpose--to entertain and to galvanize children to buy the toys. Somewhere along the line, the show became a cult favorite, so in 1986 they fashioned an epic tale of good versus evil specifically for the big screen. The result looked vaguely like an animated remake of Star Wars. Who are the Transformers? The good guys are the Autobots: Optimus Prime, Jazz, Ultra Magnus, and many more. Their mortal enemies are the evil Decepticons, led by Megatron and StarScream. The Autobots must save their home planet from an evil entity known as Unicron (voiced by Orson Welles). At the same time, they must defend themselves from an all-out attack from the Decepticons. Along the way, lives are lost, battles are fought, and a new Autobot leader is born. The story and action never stop in a thrilling ride that often makes you forget that you're watching an '80s cartoon with inferior graphics. The violence will also come as a mild shock to those who haven't seen this film for a while--definitely a movie for the 8 and over audience. For those who grew up on this series, this is a movie that must be watched. Unlike cartoon serials before and after, The Transformers relied on solid stories and interesting characters, a manifesto the film itself upholds with gusto and grace while also being morally responsible. Don't underestimate this movie; there is definitely more to it than meets the eye. --Jeremy Storey ....read more

Simon Furman Blog Update 3 / 31

Filed under: Uncategorized — Transformers News @ 5:15 pm
simonfurmanwordpress.com- Transformers comic books superscribe Simon Furman updates his blog with details about Titan Comics Issue #23, and Maximum Dinobots #4.

You can read the whole blog by clicking here.

"NEW RELEASE - MAXIMUM DINOBOTS #4
March 31, 2009
So let;#x2019;s start the round of updates proper with Transformers: Maximum Dinobots #4, which hits stores this week (1st April in the US, 2nd in the UK). Featuring the illustrative talents of not one but two gobsmackingly good Transformers artists (namely Nick Roche and James Raiz), Maximum Dinobots #4 moves events along apace into the (5-issue) series;#x2019; searing, big-battle conclusion. Story threads extending back as far as Spotlight: Shockwave are pulled together as the Dynobots and their new allies, the Monsterbots, take the fight to Scorponok;#x2019;s door (in the Machination compound in Dallas) and kick it in! Sounds straightforward, right?...(some spoilerish material further)"

"TF ANIMATED (UK) ;#x2014; FLIES AGAIN
March 31, 2009
Well, kind of. Those new/original strips that were already in progress, in some form or another, when the UK Transformers Animated comic sadly bit the dust, have found a new home in Titan;#x2019;s core Transformers Universe comic. So, as well as 11 pages of new alternate movie continuity strip, issues #23-25 will also contain UK-exclusive TF Animated strips: a whole 11 (extra!) pages of Transformers goodness! Kicking things off in #23 (on sale now), a bumper 68-page issue, is a Swoop/Dinobots story, ;#x2018;Dive-Bomb;#x2019; written by me and drawn by John McCrea...(continues on blogsite)"

"UPDATES - AT LAST!
March 31, 2009
I know, I know! Another long absence! But it;#x2019;s my intent, this week and next, to bring everyone bang up to speed on what;#x2019;s been going on (a lot!) and what;#x2019;s therefore coming up (work-wise). Short form list of projects right now include;#x2026; Starcraft (a new monthly comic from Wildstorm, based on the hit computer game from Blizzard Entertainment, which kicks off in May), an Ironhide/Optimus Prime story in the first (I think) issue of All Hail Megatron: Coda, two (currently) top secret Spotlights (Transformers, naturally) for IDW, a trio of books (Rad Robots for Kyle Cathie, Transformers: The Art of the Movies for Titan and Transformers: The Movie Universe for DK), volume 2 of Titan;#x2019;s Transformers UK and a movie script, something that;#x2019;s been kicking around for a while but now has an actual option attached. That last one may well have to remain under wraps for a while yet, but more on that when I can."

Check out 'Maximum Dinobots #4' at your local book store tomorrow (US), or Thursday (UK)!

TF ConVersions June 14th 2009, Merwestein

Filed under: Event News — Transformers News @ 12:44 pm
Finally the time is there. After a long wait can we finally announce the details for TF ConVersions 2009.

TF ConVersions
Sunday June 14th 2009
Merwestein, Nieuwegein

After the announcement of the date two weeks ago, the team has been busy to finalize everything. The team also received many diverse responses to our last news report. However, it were the positive responses, and foremost those regarding the location from last year, that allowed us the possibilities to reopen negotiations and come to a better agreement. Because of the positive responses, we have decided to once again hold our convention in Nieuwegein at the Merwestein Sport Complex.

After further negotiations, we have found a way to repress the ticket fees even further down. Thanks to the people from the Merwestein Complex, we have come to terms on the prices listed below. Parking at the Merwestein Sport- en Evenementencomplex is of course again free of charge.

;#x20AC;15.- - Tickets at the door
;#x20AC;12,50 - Tickets by presale via the online shop
;#x20AC;10.- - Children aged 3 to 14 years
Free - Children 0 to 3 years

People who already ordered their tickets, will be contacted in the coming week, and the difference will be returned.

The event will take place as before from 12.00 hrs until about 17.00 hrs. Many of the well-known items will be present again. Although some items may be repackaged. The biggest change will be the concept of the hub. Instead of seperate stands for various items, this year these will be interconnected with each other flow over bewteen them. A combination of Transformers information will stand united. Together we will see if the Hub can possibly find the answers to some of the questions you may have. There will be a panel about Kitbashing and how you can do it yourself. How you can maintain your Transformers toys and if possible how to repair them. Also the how to Draw Your Transformers art corners wil also be represented here. All the convenience in one spot.

The various activities will also be on hand. With the lotterij many great and exclusive Transformers items can be won. Several Transformers Themed games will be played. Also the Jumpstarter Challenge will be ready for action. A corner for the smaller fans (in a more subdued manner compaired to last year) where they can colour, draw and watch video will be present. And of course there will be a number of various stands where the hardcore fan can expand his/her collection.

If you want to signup as a (fan)dealer for the event sell items or you want to help during TF ConVersions. (This means from start to finish). Or you have a fun idea that we can use for the convention? Then you can contact Raymond Fransman by e-mail at raymond-t@tf-conversions.com or even better register to the forum and send a PM to Raymond T. The costs and rules for keeping a stand have remained unchanged.

We will see each other on June 14th in Nieuwegein.
